The Worst of 2014 … Lip Monthly

I have been dreading writing this post for a few days now. But it is time to put on my big girl panties and put it out there … Lip Monthly sucks. Sucks balls. Sucks ass. Sucks at life. We all know how disappointed I was with them last month (if you don’t know, feel free to click here and catch up). I was billed for December’s bag after having cancelled. After getting the run around of emails that never actually answered any of my questions, I finally decided to just wait for my December bag, not worry about the mere $15 (I was told I would get what I paid for), and hope the items were at least worth my money.

This bag arrived even later than my November bag! I received my bag on December 31st. Lip Monthly should really start shipping earlier in the month so people can receive their bag in that same month. I can see from tracking my package, that each month my bag sits in the Chicago processing facility for 7-10 days before it even leaves the warehouse. I haven’t had this issue with other subscription companies.

The bag itself had the strongest smell of plastic ewww. And the bag felt very much like plastic and not fabric. The painted print feels like it will easily crack and fall off of the bag. It is the same quality as last month’s bag, which I will note has since gotten a broken zipper! I did like that the bag itself had a winter theme, but the smell is too much to handle and I definitely don’t want it stinking up my handbag.

Lip Monthly includes a card that explains their monthly inspirations, product info, and value of the bag. Love this feature (Topbox does this too!!). The first thing I noticed, was that there were only four products this month instead of five. The MMU (monthly mashup product) was MIA. The card explained that for the next few months they will be testing this out, as all four products were full sized. But all FIVE of my products from last month were full sized!! And I actually liked having a fifth product that wasn’t a lip item.

Goodbye 2014

And just like that, another year has come and gone. We say goodbye to 2014 and look forward with optimism at the year to come. With my birthday right before NYE (December 30th) the new year brings the opportunity of a fresh start in many ways. New year. New age. New dreams.

Here is a look back at the start of blogging for me. It’s only been 3 months, but I am already hooked! WordPress does a wonderful little annual report full of fun facts. Here were my most viewed posts of 2014. Seems you all are just as addicted to Sephora as I am ♡

Here were the people who commented the most over these last few months:

Thank you, each and every one of you, for your support and for reading my posts! Jan&Jot, newkeybeauty, Amber T. (Sorry doll I have no link for you!), RollinginGlitter, and theworldofcos, thank you for being my biggest commenters!

Just for fun, I made a list of some of the most hilarious search terms I have seen so far. I love that WordPress shows you exactly how people find your blog (search terms used, referral clicks, etc.). What I love even more is all of these wonderful search terms, with what I would assume were very disappointed readers. What a tease. Click for boobs instead find makeup and beauty.

Aren’t some of these hilarious? I think my favorite is “lovely winter image with boob“. Because it isn’t a lovely image without tits, right? LOL!!

New Year’s Eve can be magical. When I think New Year’s I think about glitter and gold. Shimmer and silver. That’s why this NYE has been inspired by classic black & glittering gold.

The Dress
The dress. Isn’t it always all about the dress? NYE is the perfect opportunity to embrace your inner diva and let her shine. I’m all about curve enhancing, sexy showstoppers. Ring in the new year with a bang.

The Casual NYE
Sometimes New Year’s isn’t a big huge gala filled with champagne and dancing. Sometimes New Year’s is a dinner with friends and a low key (but still drunken) night of Cards Against Humanity. That’s no reason to not look fabulous. These outfits are the perfect inspiration for anything from a house party (right) to a low key night of fondue (left).

The Accessories
Every girl needs a larger than life cocktail ring to rock with her NYE outfit! Add a killer pair of heels and a sparkly clutch, and your all set to steal the show.

The Look
A gold smokey eye paired with a dark vampy red lip, is NYE makeup perfection. These black and gold glitter nails are just what we need to complete this look!

The Party
The atmosphere is just as important as the outfit. These are great inspirations for throwing your own NYE Black and Gold themed party. Ask guests to dress in black and gold! Champagne with blackberries compliments the theme so well. Throw up a quick diy photo backdrop using gold garland or gold curtains. If you are heading out instead, bring some fun black and gold favors with you! Funny favors like hats, signs, and cutouts can make for great pictures even when you are out and about!

What are your inspirations for ringing in 2015?! I feel like Black and Gold is always a delightful pick!!
